Course overview
In this interactive and supportive half -day session learners will have the opportunity to explore the principles and application of trauma informed practice in relation to workplace settings and how this may be integrated in day-to-day practice. The training will refer to both client-facing interactions, as well as staff well-being. As an introductory programme, this course is particularly appropriate for staff who have not any completed trauma informed training previously.
Format
Format includes presentations, group discussion, self –reflection, quizzes, case studies and communication skills practice.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Describe what is meant by trauma, including common characteristics, causes and impacts.
- Outline key features of trauma-informed practice when supporting clients and colleagues.
- Describe and demonstrate trauma-informed communication skills to build trust and safety.
- Identify ways of managing one’s own wellbeing and boundaries when working with others who have experienced trauma.
- Consider ways of integrating trauma informed practice into their own working roles.
