Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is an approach that supports all frontline staff to use everyday interactions to promote healthier lifestyles with service users and residents through brief person-centred health promotion conversations, and signposting to relevant local and national information and resources.
Format
- Both formats include presentations, quizzes, group discussion, video demonstrations and case study practice.
- Learning resources including course slides and local resources will be shared with all learners during and after the session.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session learners will be able to:
- Understand the value of Making Every Contact Count (MECC).
- Describe key health and wellbeing messages and guidelines around healthy lifestyles and wellbeing such as diet, exercise, smoking, blood pressure and mental well-being
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to have a supportive and empathic MECC conversation related to common lifestyle changes.
- Demonstrate an awareness local / national resources related to health and wellbeing and how to effectively signpost.
Who should attend
Any frontline workers or volunteers in the health, social care or voluntary sectors who have conversations with service users about their health and wellbeing as part of their role.
